Q: “What exactly is a multi-author book?”
A multi-author book is exactly what it sounds like: instead of one person writing an entire book alone, a group of experts – in this case, 12 – each contribute a chapter of 2,500 to 3,500 words around a shared theme. We compile those chapters into a single, professionally published book, and then run a coordinated launch campaign to get it onto the USA Today Bestsellers list. You get all the credibility and authority of being a “bestselling author,” but you share the cost – only 10 to 20% of what a solo book would cost – and my team does the heavy lifting on editing, publishing, and launching.
Q: “Why does a multi-author bestseller campaign work so well?”
You can become a USA Today Bestseller for a fraction of the cost by being in a book with other authors and you can have the USA Today Bestseller title for life.
Q: “How does the USA Today Bestseller List actually work?”
The USA Today Bestsellers List is a national publication that produces a weekly list of the top 150 selling books in the United States of all genres, based on combined sales data pulled from a mix of major retailers – not just Amazon.
Q: “How many book sales does it actually take to hit the list?”
There’s no single published magic number, and the threshold shifts slightly week to week depending on what else is selling. Based on years of running these campaigns, a book generally needs somewhere in the range of a few thousand copies sold across platforms within the qualifying week to have a realistic shot at the list.
Q: “What’s the actual difference between Standard and VIP?”
Word count, cover placement, and what happens after launch. That’s exactly why I offer access to my lead ghostwriter, Daria Anne DiGiovanni. If you’d rather hand off the writing entirely, you can work directly with her on your chapter and discuss her fee separately from your contributor payment.
Q: “Do I need an email list or social following for this to work for me?”
No you do not need an audience or email list. However, the book can help you grow your email list and audience.
Q: “Should I do this multi-author book, or write and launch my own solo bestseller?”
If you want your own book, with full creative control, sole cover credit, and a marketing engine built entirely around you, a solo USA Today bestseller campaign is the better fit – and I’d be glad to talk with you about that instead. If you have a book that is already published, we can potentially launch that book to the USA Today bestsellers list as a solo book.
If your goal is simply to earn the “USA Today Bestselling Author” title as quickly, affordably, and collaboratively as possible, and you don’t need an entire book built around only your name, the multi-author route gets you there for a fraction of the cost and effort. Many of the authors I’ve worked with use this as a first step – earning the title now, then building a solo book later once they’ve seen what it can do for their business.
